Patricia Bruno is an innovative, creative person, committed to human service and learning. In her professional life, Patricia has served as a high school English teacher and department chairperson, an adjunct lecturer on the college level, and a project director in government providing services to people with developmental disabilities and their families. As a licensed master social worker, certified educator and school administrator, Patricia offers consulting, counseling, and expressive writing workshops in an independent practice currently. Patricia's personal journey transcends life's challenges with spiritual values and intuitive wisdom. Waiting for the Echo brings to the public her intimate poems that integrate reality and spirituality. The power and passion of this poetry comes from Patricia's "head in the clouds, feet on the ground" stance toward life.

Currently, Patricia is working on Second Bloom, a new book of poetry. It is intended as a slim gift volume that includes photos she took to honor the power of the written word. 

Patricia's experience includes:

  • counseling at a reemployment center and at a hospital inpatient hospice
  • designing a proposal to obtain grant funds to develop positive alternatives to discipline for disaffected high school students
  • writing a Program of National Significance grant 
  • writing state agency policy and designing services for people with traumatic brain injury
  • coordinating statewide services for people with Prader-Willi syndrome and their families 
  • serving as a project director for the Senior Companion Program, a federal Senior Corps program sponsored by a state agency.
  • serving as an instructor at a two year career college and as an adjunct lecturer in education at a four year college
  • teaching high school and middle school English in both public and parochial schools
  • serving as a high school English department chairperson
  • developing curriculum

In addition, Patricia's volunteer experience includes tutoring an international student to improve English speaking skills, redefining job choices and writing resumes for people who need employment.
